Teach at the Beth Emeth Religious School!

Temple Beth Emeth is hiring a part ­time teacher for our supplementary religious school for the 2015­-2016 

school year. Classes begin on September 12th, 2015. A staff meeting will be held prior to the first day of 

school.

Our new teacher will be providing Judaica instruction to our youngest class (Kindergarten-­2nd grade, ages 5-­7) 

on Saturday mornings between the hours of 9:30 am to 1 pm. This includes both instructional time and 

Shabbat morning services. As a Reform synagogue, we are comfortable with writing and other such activities 

on Shabbat, and expect our teachers to be as well. Depending on the selected candidate’s familiarity with 

Hebrew, there may be an opportunity available to teach Hebrew to older students (3rd grade­-7th grade) 

on Monday evenings via web­chat.


Applicant must:

● Be engaging, enthusiastic, and passionate about Judaism and Jewish education.

● Have experience working with children in an educational, community center, or camp setting. 

● Be interested in early childhood and elementary school education.

● Be comfortable working with children who have special needs.

● Have an understanding of Jewish history, holidays, and ritual; be proficient in reading Hebrew.

● Be familiar with the traditions of Reform Judaism, recognize it as an authentic way to practice Judaism, 

and be able to communicate that.

● Be interested in professional learning and growth.

● Be comfortable with technology, and open to using technology in an educational environment 

(including, possibly, on Shabbat).

● Provide proof of ability to work as required by local and federal laws.

The Temple is creating an innovative approach to Jewish Education that combines an interactive, community-
building approach to Jewish Education and individualized Hebrew instruction, both in person and via web­chat. 

The custom curriculum taught is developed by our Religious School Director, Bryna Bilanow.   

We are looking for teachers who will be partners with us in implementing a new approach to engage families and children in Temple life. We operate multi­age classrooms and are looking for teachers who are comfortable working with mixed­-age groups.
