Atzeret Simchat Torah

Join our religious school on Sunday evening, September 30th at 5:30 pm for our Simchat Torah Service with Consecration of religious school students.  On Monday morning, October 1st, we will have our Sh'mini Atzeret Festival Morning Service with Yizkor at 10 am.

Sukkot - September 23rd & 24th

Join the B'ShERT congregation for a Sukkot potluck at 5 pm followed by Sukkah decorating at 6:15 pm.  At 7 pm there will be a Erev Sukkot Service in the sanctuary.

On Monday, September 24th, join us at 10 am for a Sukkot Service.

Brotherhood

Religious School

REVIVAL

A spiritual folk-rock music show with themes of love and justice

Presented By B’SHERT

Saturday, September 29 at 3:00 PM in the Sanctuary

The charge for this event will be $10 for members (children free); for non-members, the cost will be $15

A lite Israeli style lunch will be available to members for free and non-members for a fee of $5

The children of B’ShERT are invited to particpate! During the concert, children will be invited to join the performers on stage to sing the 3 choruses of the song  "I Am" along with the singers. Kristen Plylar-Moore (REVIVAL songwriter) and her wife Julia Ostrov (REVIVAL singer and the Assistant Cantor for East Midwood Jewish Center’s high holidays) will lead a workshop on the morning of Saturday, Sept. 22nd during religious school at 9:45-10:45 AM. The children will learn the song and discuss its meaning. All children 8 and up are invited to participate. On the morning of the concert, Kristen will return to religious school to rehearse the song with the children.

ABOUT REVIVAL

REVIVAL is a spiritual folk-rock performance that speaks to urgent moral issues of our day. It features original story-driven music by Kristen Plylar-Moore performed by a small ensemble of singers and instrumentalists. Rooted largely in Hebrew biblical texts, the music expresses themes of love and justice, and envisions a world grounded in compassion and dignity for everyone. 5779 HHD Machzor Learning Sessions

At this year's High Holy Day services, we will be davening from Mishkan HaNefesh (the Reform Movement's current machzor) for the first time — and we want to make sure everyone is familiar and comfortable before we kick off the year. Join Rabbi Hoover for informal "lunch and learn" sessions covering the Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur liturgy. After Shabbat Morning services at 1pm on 8/18 and 8/25, and before Erev Shabbat services at 7 pm on 8/24 and 8/31.

During the summer months, Friday night services will be lay-led and will start at 8 pm.

Saturday morning services during July and the first week of August will be led by Rabbi Cassi Kail, at 11 am.

Join our circle as we meditate and raise our voices in song and prayer surrounded by the beauty of nature. 

This will be Cantor Bernstein’s last service prior to her retirement. We bid her farewell with love and gratitude!  


Bring a lawn chair and if you wish, a picnic lunch to enjoy afterwards.
